AMBER WALPOLE and CHARLES (Chuck) LALONDE are Atelier Amberbrook, a professional design and woodworking studio in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec, within Canada’s national capital region. We specialize in providing museum quality exhibition design and fabrication services, as well as custom woodwork, cabinetry and interior architectural millwork.
We have over 30 years experience and our continuing goal is to keep current with new design systems, materials and fabrication techniques—while being aware of best practices in the selection of sustainable materials and finishes.
With a broad base of experience in museum and gallery environments, we have always worked comfortably with diverse project teams. Clients include most of the major institutions in the Ottawa area—Canadian Museum of History, Canadian War Museum, Canadian Museum of Nature, Parks Canada, Bank of Canada’s Currency Museum, Library and Archives Canada, Rideau Hall, Supreme Court of Canada, and Canada Science and Technology Museum—as well as regional and municipal institutions.
From original concepts to final fabrication drawings, we have gained considerable expertise in the exhibition design field. Highly organized, we are well known for accuracy and clarity when supplying fabrication drawings, graphic production details and specifications.
Our professionally equipped woodworking shop can produce a range of exhibit components including casework, panels and structures—all to high museum standards. We subcontract to only the most experienced and reputable suppliers for graphics production, plastics fabrication and metalwork.
We custom design and build handmade furniture, cabinetry and  specialty woodwork. With our combined design and cabinetmaking skills we offer companies and individual clients one-of-a-kind works in wood, built with craftsmanship and quality.
